Eligibility Criteria for the Canada Greener Homes Grant

To qualify for this grant program, there are a few key eligibility criteria to keep in mind:

Purchase in Canada

All equipment must be purchased within Canada.

Online Purchases

Online orders are eligible only when placed with a distributor located in Canada.

ENERGY STAR Certified Models

The equipment you choose must be listed as ENERGY STAR-certified.

Maintain ENERGY STAR Labels

Keep the ENERGY STAR labels on your windows and doors until after your post-retrofit evaluation.

Grant Options

The Canada Greener Homes grant offers grants based on rough openings, with each opening eligible for a grant of up to $250, up to a maximum of $10,600. Here are the available grant options:

Replace Windows or Sliding Glass Doors with ENERGY STAR Models

Receive a grant of $125 per rough opening when you choose ENERGY STAR-certified windows or sliding glass doors.

Replace Hinged Doors

Replace hinged doors, with or without sidelights or transoms, with ENERGY STAR-certified models, and receive a grant.

Upgrade to ENERGY STAR Most Efficient Models

Opt for ENERGY STAR most efficient models, and you can receive a grant of $250 per rough opening.

A Note on Rough Openings

A rough opening is defined as a structurally stable opening in an outside wall, which serves the purpose of installing one or more windows or doors.
The grant is based on rough openings, not the number of windows or doors installed within each opening.
